When our Canadian snowbird cousins invited us for a getaway to sunny Florida, I did not hesitate to check on flights and calendar dates to make sure we could make this happen. What can be better than trying to beat the winter blues in mid-February? When I saw a picture of the villa, I was sold, there was no stopping me, I needed warmth on my skin, I longed to bathe in the sunshine, sit by that beautiful pool and sip on tropical drinks :).
As I write this, the high winds outside are brutal, we are being blasted by extremely frigid temperatures, a fresh coating of snow blanketed the roads last night, and all I can dream of are these beautiful memories from last week. I’m showcasing some of the pictures that I captured from our visit. Sit back and dream……
Taking a nature walk on the golf course where the villa is located. The fauna and flora were indescribably beautiful. Ibis, storks of various kinds, egrets etc strutted their stuff.
Now off to grab some seafood – what else??? lobster and oysters on the half shell of course 🙂
Our beautiful friend McKenzie (Kenzie) – We fell in love with this lovable Canadian pooch. I think she loves Florida too 🙂
Siesta Key Beach – gorgeous silver sand and about a half hour drive from Sarasota.
We will surely return if we’re invited next year :). Thanks Canadian snowbird cousins :))
Whoa! Are you in Sarasota! I stay in Sarasota! But currently in Miami! This villa looks gorgeous 😍 Glad you could sneak out!

Wow, no kidding Sonal… that was our first visit to Sarasota…I hear they have quite an international crowd there. Miami is wonderful too. I wonder how you manage the summers in Sarasota though? We used to live in TX before, and those summers were killers! Have a great time in Miami, love that city! I’ll bet it’s lovely and warm 🙂

Sarasota might be a small, not-so-fancy, but the people here are Amazing, Loretta 😊 Summers aren’t that bad… The rains and the humidity can get to you! I would love to know where the villa is… I would love to see a gator 😋 I’m glad you enjoyed your time, here !

Sonal, the villa is on a golf course in a gated community in Bradenton, about a 20 min drive from the Sarasota airport. At first I thought they were kidding when they said alligators lurked in those waters in the backyard, but then I saw one everyday. 🙂 At times like today, I wish I were in FLA, it’s brutally cold, we got a ton of snow and ice yesterday.

Oh yes Loretta I think you made everyone living in the North wishing they were with you in Florida. Great pictures – a sister lives (one of their homes) in Howey-in-the-Hills right on a lake and I am always looking for the gator that likes to sun himself on the grass. All my visits I have not seen him yet! Great picture “Peter Pan” – tick tock tick tock 🙂

Ha ha Judi, yes that was the idea :). Scary isn’t it when gators are just a way of life over there? I would definitely not like gators in my backyard. :). I hope you get to visit your sister often when it’s cold in Michigan. Lovely having relatives and friends in the south.

Thanks Roy… ha ha you are asking the wrong person on Goan cuisine, I’ve never made mole, nor will in my lifetime I don’t think :). Ask Nandini, she might know.
